Had the female version: Debbie Lawler. Man, could she fly. My brother had this until my mother decided to give it to our nephews. My brother has yet to forgive her and still brings it up periodically.

One of th etoughest toys I played with. It was the TIMEX of toys. I must have jumped mine off off every height I could find and it always came back for more.

I had the Super Jet Cycle for Xmas 1977. Sure beat the Queens Silver Jubilee 500 Piece Jigsaw ! Cigarette lighter flints in the side mounted "rocket packs" provided the sparks. Evil's rubber over wire construction made him difficult to seat properly on the bike. The wire eventually poked out at the ankle. Put it down to a compound fracture from a stunt gone wrong. Loved the thing but no idea what happened to it.

One of my favorites. The fun memories. I played with it until (eventually) it broke. I remember, sometimes really cranking up the speed and when the cycle shot out, if Evel wasn't well fastened, he would fall off and the cycle would keep going by itself. Sometimes, Evel would fall off, but still be hanging on with one hand and the cycle would drag him and still jump the ramp. It was Funny. My favorite memory was when I took my little brother, little sister and a friend of their's, lined them up side by side and made the cycle jump over them....the cycle made it. The tail pipes on the cycle were a bit frail, so they broke first. Then the cycle landed hard on it's rear wheel on one of it's jumps and the inner gears were stripped. Still, for the time I had it, I had lots of fun.

The sound of the crank. Spinning faster and faster. It was as much of a race to see who could spin that thing the fastest because that meant the motorcycle would shoot off faster, with an occasional wheelie. This was my favorite toy, it lived up to the commercials! After a while we lost Evel and just raced the cycles and it seemed every kid on the block had one. We build ramps and raced them all over the driveways and where ever we found hard packed dirt. This all influenced us to get on our bikes and race. How many video games do that today?

Besides jumping him repeatedly down a 15 step flight of stairs. I cranked him up to full speed and walked up behind my mom and stuck it in her hair. She had that long 70's mom hair so you can imagine how much got tangled around that back tire. The beating I got from that stunt still haunts me to this day.

In January of 1973, my second grade teacher told us we could each bring one toy for show and tell. I had just gotten an Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle and was excited about bringing it to show off to the kids in my classmates. The day came and when it was my turn to show my Evel Knievel, I decided to do a little demonstration. I put everything on the floor and turned the crank to get Evel's motorcycle revved up to shoot across the floor. But it didn't go for some reason. I tried again, but still no success. I don't now why he chose that moment to falter. I tried a third time, still no go, so the teacher said my turn was over. It was humiliating. But that was a COOL toy and I had a lot of fun at home anyway. I made him jump off of, fly over, or roll under everything in my house.

I LOVED IT! i used to have a contest to see how many hot wheels cars i could jump over and still land rolling. IIRC the record was ~43 side by side. I'd love to have one again to play with my 7 year old boy. I htink i still have Evil himself in an old box of stuff my mother delivered one day a few years ago. The bike and Van are long gone. I remember the bike didn't work much after i tried it as a dirt bike.....:(

Oh... where do I start. The Evel/stunt cycle was the best. I played with that thing everyday. I play with is so much the metal in the arms and legs came one of the rubber skin... The coolest thing was making a river in the yard and jumping it or draging a superhero figure behind it with a string. I remember the last day I played with it. The Six Million Dollar man came, they fought, and Six threw Evel in a pit of quicksand (very thick muddy water). I bet he's still there, Helmet and all. Don't ask me why I didn't save him... I was a kid... Thanks for the memory.

Thank You! I have been searching the web and e-bay for the "girl" version of Evel Knievel forever! This was my favorite toy as a child but I could only remember the pink motorcycle with doll and crank and some association with Evel Knievel. My husband insisted that I must have been mistaken and be thinking of Pinky Tuscadero. Rigggghhhhtt. Thank you so much for proving that I was right, there IS a girl version named Darey Daring. I will now start my quest for her. I just ordered my Husband a 1st edition Six Million Dollar man (his favorite childhood toy) from e-bay 1977 un-opened in the box for X-mas. I won't say how much it cost...but who cares anyway.... We all deserve to have our favorite toy! You can't put a price on the warm memories they bring you!!!!

I once had a darey darey or daring. I cannot remember what the correct name is. I have tried so many variations of the name and this is the only reference on the whole web that can be found! I loved that toy more than anything. Unfortunately, during one of her many races with evel knievel her long blond hair got caught in the motorcycle wheel and Mom could not get it free. It was a sad day!!! I keep searching the web because I want to get another one. I think she was made by Mattel because of the commercial with the little girl torchering her white cat had their logo! LOL. The Evel Knievel is easy to find my 8 yr old nephew has one. Well if anyone ever come accross one please e-mail me so my quest can be over with!!!

What a toy! not like anything you can buy today, ok they make stuff similar, but not like this, i remember jumpming it out of conservatory doors, over patio and onto grass, 2 spins later, it was still going!! don't actually know what happened to mine, it dissappeared, i think the kid up the street had it, he didn't get one for christamas that year, was fantasic on ice!! COME ON ideal toys, a retro remake is needed, and not with the poxy plastics you use today, make it a limited edition made with the same materials, and the care from back in the 70's!!!!

(And of course, for adults only) lol

Was and still is my favourite toy of my childhood!!!

My younger brother had an Evel Knievel and I had the girl version named Derry Daring. She wore a pink & silver bell-bottomed jumpsuit. I think they must have been some of those "equal but different" Christmas gifts siblings always seem to get. I remember playing with mine so much tha that the silver started wearing off her clothes. In our town there was a place in the woods by my house that had a clif. The clif was about sixty feet high. My buddy and I built a wooden ramp for our stunt cycles and would spend hours sending Evil off this clif. At the bottom of the clif was sand so they would get a little buried ,but there wasn't a scratch on our stunt cycles. What a toy I'm shocked that ideal hasn't thought of makeing the toy again as Robby Kienevils stunt cycle.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE NAME OF A SIMILAR TOY WAS? IT WAS JUST LIKE THE EVIL CYCLE IN THAT YOU CRANKED A HANDLE ON A BASE AND IT TOOK OFF, BUT THIS WAS A MOTORCROSS BIKE WITH A RIDER PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO IT AND PROBABLY MADE IN THE 80'S OR LATE 70'S? IT WAS MADE OF PLASTIC AND BIGGER THAN THE EVIL BIKE? HELP!!!!

GUESS I'M ADDING A MEMORY THAT LAST'S TO THIS DAY!. FOND MEMORIES OF SCHOOL 'BREAK TIME', BEING ONLY ABOUT SIX YEARS OLD, PULLING EVEL FROM MY SCHOOL BAG AND SENDING HIM ACROSS THE PLAY GROUND, WATCHED BY KEEN AND WANTING EYES OF OTHER 'WANTER'S' MY AGE. GUESS THE STUNT CYCLE WAS THE FAVOURITE OF ALL EVEL'S 'RIDES' PRODUCED.. WAS CERTAINLY MY FAVOURITE ALONG WITH THE STRATO CYCLE. I HAD BOTH AS A NIPPER, AND NOW, NEARLY 29 YEARS ON, I STILL HAV'NT LOST MY LOVE OF MY FAVOURITE'S, THOUGH THE ITEMS I OWN NOW ARE MINT AND SEALED. UNDOUBT'LY, THE FINEST TOY AND COLLECTABLE EVER PRODUCED. WISH I STILL HAD MY ORIGIONAL'S, BUT UNFORTUNATELY.. KIDS WILL BE KIDS!!..

That toy was a fun one. I got it for Christmas in 1975. I loved the sound it made as you cranked it up. The problem was, I was not that coordinated back then and trying to hold the motorcycle on the launcher was a puzzle. I had to put my head on the handle of the launcher and hold the cycle. I had the one where you would crank it up while holding the cycle and then you simply let it go, if you did not already get that. The man when I got through with hem had a missing helmet, foot and eventually his clothes. The motorcycle is torn to shreds and is out with the trash. As an adult, I look back and I wish I had taken better care of my toys. Because you can hardly find the oness you so despairately want to have. Oh well it was a good memory. Was not even familiar with who Evel Was until I was older except my name only.

I have 2 younger brothers and we used to play with that Stunt Cycle all the time. I had a hot pink bicycle with a sissy bar and banana seat. I loved that bike. In the mornings before school all of the neighbor kids would be waiting for the school bus. I used to take off running with that bike and let it ramp off a neighbors railroad ties that were along their drive way. That bike would hit and flip up doing circles in the air. I wasn't brave enough to ride it ofcourse. But it sure was great entertainment at the time.

Was lucky enough to see a jump live!! My dad took me to see him jump 14 busses at Kings Island, by Cincinnati Ohio in Oct. 1975.I was 10 at the time and thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life at that point and time.

One of my favorite adventure toys (didn't last long) was my Evel Knievel. I got mine in the summer of '75. And, brought him home, revved it up and away it went into some bushes where Evel got very soiled and the cycle got scuffed up. Unfortunately, I had one of those destructive little brothers who made mince meat of it.

Evel Knievel was the man...

I remember cranking him up and trying to launch him over my over our local "Snake River" ( a four foot creek, but when your young, everything looks huge).

Sad to say, that like the real Evel Knievel, he missed the mark. He sure did float pretty good and handled the rapids (rain spilloff) pretty good.

Just like its human inspiration, this toy was all about spectacular crashes. What more could a young boy ask for?

We ran him over jumps. We ran him into walls. We ran him down the stairs. We ran him into the ground.

My only compaint is that I grew up in a beach town, and the gear assembly on the rear drive wheel could fill up with sand and seize up. I know you're not *supposed* to run him in thick dirt, but dammit, how could you resist?!

Man, what a great toy. The 70's had some really cool toys back then. I remember wanting the Evel Knievel stunt cycle so bad when I was 9 years old. I had to have it. As always Mom came thru and got it for me. My friend and I (who had one also) must have jumped them over everything we could find, small ditches, over toy cars, you name it. Down stairs, thru the concrete drainage pipes. The stunt cycle was made really good to take all that abuse. I wish I still had that stuntcycle and Evel figure now. I miss the 70's....

Dude! How cool was Evil Knievel?!? I had the stunt cycle with the wind up cycle ramp and I would build dirt ramps at the edge of the yard and crank it up and let it go and watch Evel hit about 6 or 7 jumps in a row, sometimes clear a jump or two and then just keep on going across the dirt and onto the driveway and zoom! I also loved it when it would pop a wheely and ride it all the way down the sidewalk or across our concrete basement floor. I remember making a cardboard ramp in the basement and we had an old couch down there, and I made Evel jump the entire couch (longways) and darned if it didnt clear the entire couch and hit the floor running like a bat outta hell! What an awesome toy! It was b/c of that toy that me and all my friends started getting crazy with our bikes and trying new things like jumping over cars and across steep creek banks and whatnot. Heck, who knows, I'd say it might even be possible that the Evel Knievel stunt cycle toy could even be responsible for starting the entire extreme sports movement! Not the Man, mind you... THE TOY! You know..... It truely was awesome to be a kid alive in the toy crazed 1970's!!!! long live generation 70's TOY KIDS!

I can rememeber cranking up the cycle one time...i aimed it at tree root that was acting as our jump...the bike took off and instead of hitting the root for a jump, it rode straight up the side of the tree...it got about 6-7ft high. when it got to it's highest point and kind of peeled out on the side of the tree for a little bit then fell off backwards....sweet....you sould have seen us jump our huffy bikes after we saw what the possibilities were.

I agree that this was one of the coolest toys out there! It would go SO freakin' fast! I somehow ended up with 3 or 4 Evel figures, 2 stuntcycles and the skycycle. Like many others, I'd scrape the hell out of my knuckles trying to crank the launcher as fast as possible. A couple of times I thought the whole thing would just explode from the pressure of cranking it as hard as we did. The main hallway in my house had black marks on the baseboards from one end to the other 'cause of all the impacts from Evel and our SSP's and Whizzers...
