I had one of these when I was about 8 or so. LOVED it. I even had an Oscar Goldman action figure(doll) with the little brief case. Anyone else have that one?
Of course, as I got older my mom gave those toys away. Oy!

I remember so many things about the Six Million Dollar Man toys. Maskatron was my favorite, but Steve Austin's clear laser-arm was by far the most useful. There was an accessories pack which had about two or three additional arms, one of which had a red lightbulb in the wrist (the laser). This I used to read my brother's Playboys under my dark covers at night, (my parents would pop into my room unexpectedly to see if I was sleeping or not.) Those were the days!

This toy was sooo cool!. I used to look through the bionic eye from the front because it made things bigger!, Just like it was supposed to. I always suspected the makers had it wrong, and I still can't look through one of them door fisheye things without thinking of my old childhood friend..

"Steve Austin a man barely alive, we can rebuild him, we have the technology", seeing that toy brought back alot of memories, he had an engine you would lift by pressing a button on his back, roll up the plastic skin on his right arm and place a toy microchip in it, see through his bionic eye, that toy was the bomb!!!!

I got the SMDM for my 7th or 8th birthday. He came with a plastic orange girder for clutching in his bionic grip which you worked by pressing a red button repeatedly on his back to raise his arm. He had a removable 'chip' in his right upper forearm and of course the 'bionic vision' by looking through his head. I still have mine in my cupboard; missing his sneakers, his chip, the girder, a few holes in his outfit and a few dog bites on his hands from a pet of mine that has long since kicked the bucket!

I remember watching the Six Million Dollar Man's first episode. My parents could'nt afford to buy me any of the toys. But I played with my neighboors figures. He even had two figres to this day have not seen again. The Biosonic Bigfoot and The Bionic Man Test Flight edition. He came with three outfits like the Limelight Jamie. Has anyone else seen a Biosonic Bigfoot or a test flight Bionic Man. They were cool. I wish I could go back in time.

Yes, I remember the Six Million Dollar Man. I got him when I was five. I wish I had taken better care of him, because it was the one with the car ingine and the button on the back. I have another one that I bout in 2002 from a commic book store. This is the Steve with the gripping right hand and you move his bionic arm by moving his left. Although that is not the one I wanted, I can live with that. Well, maybe Some day, I can get the one like I had in 1976

Where to begin! Man! If I had to accredit my performance in "Stunt Man" to one thing, it would definitely be the Six Mill Man. I remember being fairly young, curled up with the 6 Million Dollars of a Man under the mulberry bush. I would pretend I was his daddy, though. I would give him a smile and then pump him slightly until the garden hose was satisfied. Then I would take a nap, wake up, and urinate all over him. I would laugh really hard and my mom would come out and wonder what all the excitement was about. Even till this day, when I'm a little down, I go to the mulberry bush and satisfy my inner-child. My therapist says by peeing on the doll's face I'm proving that I'm an important person and that everyone loves me. He promises that everyone loves me. He says that in the computer cable business, they should call me the 6 Million Dollar Man.

I had this toy. He had a seethrough eye, and the skin rolled back on his arm where you could place a plastic "chip" in. The backpack was a radio of somesorts, never got it to work) and the rocketshp he came in would fold out into a lab that you could work on him.
Going through some old boxes last year, I came across the radio, but no Steve Austin.
I often wonder what small fortune I would heve to spend, to get a collection of the toys I owned as a kid.

One time, I decided to test Steve Major's strength and promptly attached his grip to the end of our ultra seventies lounge couch. Sad to say, Steve lost the battle and dislocated his shoulder.
He never possessed his prior strength after that...

Here's another one...
I lost one of Steve Austin's rubber shoes. (I called him Steve Majors in my other post---I guess the real Steve Austin was not married to Farrah Fawcett---I get those two mixed up).
Anyway, I lost poor Steve Austins right rubber shoe and the poor guy limped around with one barefoot until I decided to take a trip to K-mart. After scoping the aisles and looking over my shoulder several times, I swiped one from a display box.
Normally this would not be such a big deal except I was freshly enrolled in Catholic School and had to confess the crime up in the cofessional booth.
I got off with twelve hail mary's...

The bionic folks were waaaay before my time. I don't even know how I found out about SMDM but last year I had to have a Steve Austin figure. I won one off ebay only to find another one at a hobby shop the next day. A few days later I got the bionic woman at the same shop. A year after finding the Bionic Woman (two weeks ago actually) I found another Six Million Dollar Man at a garage sale.

This was the coolest toy ever. "Real" skin you could roll up and that cool ratchet sound his arm made when you pushed the button on his back. I went through those like crazy. I kept wearing them out. Who didn't want to be Steve Austin? This doll had some pretty cool gadgets that were part of it. There was a peep hole in the back of his head so that you could look through the bionic eye, and the skin on his arm rolled up so that you could pull out his bionic sensors that were embedded in the arm. I think the legs had sensors in them too. In fact I remember making the boop boop boop boop sounds when I was moving his arms to pick up the engine block that came with him or as I was peering through the back of his head.

I had want I'm assuming to be the first edition SMDM action figure. However, I don't remember mine having the roll-up rubber skin...I seem to remember flesh colored plastic panels that removed to reveal clear plastic bionics. Anyone else? My memory may be failing, I was 4 only 5 when I received my favorite toy of all time! I later acquired Masketron for Christmas. I also had Pulsar in addition to G.I.Joe's and KISS Megos (which I still own) and Planet of The Apes Megos. I too every once in a while scour eBay looking for a SMDM in "MINT" condition for less than a Benjamin Franklin. I would also like to replace my fuzzy headed and bearded G.I. Joe. If it's any truth to Jim Carrey playing the SMDM that will tarnish the memory for me. What a joke! Almost as bad as having Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson star in Starskey & Hutch. Were these shows comedies and I was too young to realize it? I think not so why are they starring pathetic comedians to portray them?

There were 3 versions of the SMDM dolls. 1st had the engine block, the 2nd had the bionic grip w/an orange steel girder and the 3rd (Most hard to find) was the biosonic arm (karate chop) which had a different shirt and pants (instead of the red jogging suit)and came with a bracelet and blocks he could smash. You could also get three mission arms and mission legs, which made the doll cool. Bigfoot doll was simple and boring. Maskatron was cool with 3 faces, different arms and his limbs could "pop" off. Oscar had the exploding briefcase. Bionic mission vehicle was indestructible too. Lee Majors is currently suing Universal, says he hasn't seen ANY royalties form these and other toys from the series. And Jim Carey is going to play Steve Austin in the movie to be released in 2005?

Dude! I must of gone through 5 of these guys! Between the ages of 4 and 8 this was the ultimate toy and TV Show! I had the Masktron, some wierd blowup dome (space station?) and the rocket ship. Later I got miniture figures on motorcycles that raced like evil Kenevil. It was Steve Austin vs the Bigfoot on motor cycles! Anyone remember what it was called? Every year Santa Claus had a new one to replace the old one! Anyone ever try to put him on Evils Motor Cycle? Haha! I almost killed myself trying to plug in the backpack to a wall socket!! It had a roach clip at the end of it! Hey! I was 5 years old, what did I know! 70's toys rule!

Wow, I remember this toy--my brother had the Six Million Dollar Man and I had the Bionic Woman. Not only that, I had a Farrah Fawcett doll...long before (I think!) she became Farrah Fawcett Majors. My brother and I used to marry all our dolls to each other; I'm sure through some kind of weird kiddie poppet magic we brought the happy couple together. My brother also had the spaceship. I remember the Bionic Woman had some kind of something or other to indicate her super-hearing but I don't remember exactly what.
By the way, this site is great--I came here because I was out at dinner and someone said "g-"something and out of nowhere came Gnip Gnop memories...after calling several people I went to the internet for satisfaction and lo and behold...

Man, I had the Six Million Dollar man toy with the red workout suit and the car engine block. I loved that toy more than any other from my youth.
I loved it so much that I eventually broke a leg playing with it and my mother made me throw it out in the trash. Ironic, isn't it? A broken leg and I didn't have the technology... until 28 years later, damn it!!! Why didn't anyone tell me back then when I was 8, that you could buy replacement legs and arms?!!!
Jeeez!!!!!! I spent the last year looking for the toy at junk and antique shops. Yup, I finally found one!! Everything is in good working order, but the clothing is not in great condition though. When I eventually did research on the internet, I found out that there were these replacement legs and arms that my parent didn't tell me about!!!
What was the moral of all this? Was I supposed to learn something from this? Crap, I don't care... I gots me another Six Millon Dollar Man action figure!

that last memory was a hoot...but the ultimate has got to be re-creating that crash sequence at the beginning of the tv show...we used to build Steve's rocketship out of cardboard and tape, cram him inside with toilet paper and a brick of cherry bombs all inter-connected with a delayed fuse, attach the sucker to a kite, light it and then send Steve to the clouds...in a short time a few sparks would turn into a raging inferno and then the whole freakin' thing was earthbound...what a mess Steve was...and no we could not re-build him. What a riot!!!

I had a six million dollar man doll that I carried with me for years. One day when I was about 12 years old, my mother was having a garage sale and had it on the table for .50 cents,I took the doll and burried it under a pine tree in the front yard. I have yet to try and find it, but im almost positive of the exact location. I guess "mission accomplished" my mother never got to sell it and , if I wanted, I could dig it up. I remember the rollup rubber on the arm. Under the rubber imbedded into his are was a small rectangular clear plastic that had a picture of his bionics / electrical circuitry. I think he had a bigger one on his leg as well?
I remember the button on Steve's back that when you pressed it made a cranging sound and his arm raised.
Because of Steve's bionic eye, I still close my left eye in order see better with my right!
I didn't have it, but I remember that you could buy a Capsule / POD to put steve into?
I also had another toy, like Steve but he had a electrical circuit for a face and many plastic face masks (including Steve Austins) that you could disguise him with. He also had a clamp / scoop & laser (which had a real small red torch in it I think).

This really takes me back. I remember the Six-Million Dollar Man figure pretty well. There was that rubber skin you could roll up to reveal the little clear square over a sticker printed to look like circuitry. The panel would come out so you could get a better look at it. And the hole in the back of the head allowed you to look out through one eye. As I remember, I spent more time studying the oddly-textured interior of the head along the viewport than anything else. Didn't the arm pump up or something to simulate lifting? And wasn't there a plastic car engine for Steve to lift?

In addition to the "bionic eye" mentioned above... does anybody remember the "roll up" skin on his arm? Or what about the backpack that was a real working radio? I think the radio/pack had a little clamp you hooked to metal, for a ground?, and the radio was then funtional...so cool for a kid back then!
