Paddle Pool

I was about 11 or 12 when I received Paddle Pool for my birthday, My parents recently divorced it was just my mom and me, when my cousin would spend the night we would play paddle pool for hours with my mom would get so excited she could not make the paddles work and us kids would laugh until we fell over. This game has such wonderful memories for me, it makes me think of my mom and I smile.

Got this game when it first came out. Was on active duty as a Marine at the time. A bunch of us and our girlfriends (now wives) played for hours and hours. Even more fun than drinking - although one COULD do both.

Came from a family of 6 kids. At the time we were 16-6 years old. Paddle pool was one of my best memories. Played Toss-Acroos and Skittle Pool but nothing could match the fun we had with Paddle Pool. We also played tournaments. On your 5th goal you were out and were replaced by the next in line. The 3 remaining player each recieved one point. The goals were not reset except for the next in line. It was a competition to see who could hold the longest record of not getting eliminated.

I loved this game as a kid. I have been searching for one to buy for two years so I can play it with my kids. I cannot get my parents to give up the one I played with. I think it would be a success if they produced it again.

My family has talked about this game for years, remembering the time spent around the table, with everyone taking turns. So much laughter, and chatter, some of us practically rolling out of chairs. I especially recall my grandfather, with his large fingers, attempting to quickly flip the paddle, and keep the ball out of his corner, with "the spectators" cheering him on. That's what was so great about the game, any and all loved to play it, and never grew tired of it. I am so excited to purchase one for MY family this year, and am thinking about sending one to each of my siblings as well.

I have had my paddle pool game since 1971. I still have it and people ask me to bring it to parties. Since my cousin got one at the same time in 1971, we would have tounaments at Christmas. Now Fundex Games is making Paddle Pool again. My kids spotted it at Menards and I ended up buying 3 of them. I plan to have a tounament at Christmas just like we did in 1971. There's no way you can play this game without everyone laughing until there stomachs hurt.

When I was young my family had a Paddle Pool game. The game was so much fun that the adults in my family would play and play and it was hard for the children (me) to get a turn. I was thrilled to read below that it had FINALLY ben re-released. I called the manufacturer at 1-800-486-9787 ( www.fundexgames.com ) and they were able to help me find a store in my area that had it. I just called that store and put one on hold. I cannot wait to go and pick it up and introduce my children to this wonderful game.

Our family LOVES Paddle Pool!! I can remember many, many nights playing it with my older brothers, sister and their spouses. Thank goodness my mother never throws things away...lol...because we still have our beloved Paddle Pool. Now, my 7 yr old great-nephew begs to play it when the family gets together at mom's house. All the original parts are still there and in perfect condition. What a timeless, fun game...just the GREATEST!!

OH MY GOSH!!! The greatest game EVER!! My three older sisters, mom and cousins played every night! The loser had to eat something groce, like a tablespoon of dried coffee or mayo... whatever the others voted on!!! We laughed until we cried!! My sister DOES NOT eat mayo 'till this day.. and that has been 35 years!! I wish we still had Paddle Pool!!!

GREAT NEWS For all PaddlePool players, you can now purchase this game, NEW. I bought one just today. Fundex is the company which has released this copy of the classic version. It only cost $15.99 - very affordable especially when compared to the originals being sold on ebay.

I would love my kids to have a paddle pool game. I was a 70's kid and long before the video age. This was hours and hours of fun with my friends and siblings. We would have paddle pool tournaments every weekend. They really need to bring this game back, and get it back on the market!!!!!! I would be the 1st in line to purchase it.

WOW... Do I remember Paddle Pool? Indeed I do! and G'Nip - G'Nop...and Kerplunk! They brought those back...why not Paddple Pool??? I remember spending hours with my sister playing Paddle pool, even my friends would want to play that instead of watching TV...we didn't watch much TV back "in those days" we were either playing games or outside somewhere. Our dog would even get into the game. He was a toy poodle and would have his own corner of the board. He won more times than I care to mention. Does anyone know where I can find one of these games? My son is 4 1/2 now and I would love to sit down and play it with him.

I am younger than most of the writers but I had neighbors who were like second parents to my brother my friends and I and they had this game from there collage days and it was so awesome we had never heard of this game before but we had a blast playing it and would beg them to take it out of storage any chance we could

I remember how much fun my brothers and I had playing paddle pool in the 70s. We quickly lost the pieces that made it a two player game, but never fear, we had so much fun playing two goals at once. Oh, and what great fun it was to serve the ball and just lob it through the air into the opponent's goal. I too wish the game would be marketed again. It was very durable compared to lots of other games....except for the pieces we lost. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Are you kidding me!! Yes, I'm a baby boomer from the 70's and I too come from a large family. (In fact, who didn't come from a large family in those days, avg must have been 4.5 kids per family instead of the weak 2.5 of today). We had paddle pool tournaments all the time, of course I never won because I was the second youngest in this large family, however, now I'd love to play this game because age is no factor!! One thing I remember doing in this game was when someone ticked you off and they sat across from you and it was your serve you would zing it right in their face!! Oh this game was intense, loved it!!

Mercy!!! The nights my family stayed up until the wee hours of the morning playing this game! I didn't know anyone played it but us! On a weekend we would clear the table after dinner, and flip a coin on which 4 were going to get to play first. My dad always got to play first of course. lol There was myself and spouse, my 3 siblings and their spouses, and we would all gather round waiting for our turn to come up. lol It brought all of us together on a Saturday night for lots of laughter, and fantastic fun! Any so many great memories we all still talk about it today. Does the game still exsist? And if so is there somewhere I can purchase it? Having my own 10 grandkids now would be so much fun to watch them play just like we did.

We saved our Paddle Pool game from when our children were small (in the seventies)and our grandchildren are playing it right now. We just had a tournament that included Grandma and Peepaw (age 73 and 74), Mom and Dad (about 42) and the four grandchildren (7, 10, 12, and 16). What a great time we had! We'd like to buy a new one, but at least we still have the old one. Milton Bradley should bring this wonderful game back.

My kids loved that game - so much that it occupied their time so I could get some housework and cooking done!

Now they long for the game. I bid on a couple of games on Ebay but was outbid. I would love to find a Paddle Pool game in great condition

Paddle Pool was my favorite game - EVER!! I remember dragging it to every show and tell at school. It was always a hit. Learning to put spin on the ball improved your chances for being Paddle Pool Champion. I wish they'd revive this game.

Both my grandma and great grandma have this game in their basements. Whenever my cousins and I would go to their homes for Thanksgiving or whatever, we'd have huge tournaments that would last four or five hours. When it was all over, out fingers would be sore and our knees and butts would ache from sitting on the floor for so long (we play it on the floor). It's a great game. We even bring it outside and play on the grass when the weather is good. I'm 24 now, but have been playing this game my whole life, even though it's older than I am. Surprisingly, the Paddle Pool sets are still in good shape, but we play with a ping-pong ball. What kind of ball was originally used? I have many good memories playing this game with family members. It's become a sort of tradition in my family.

I just pulled the game from storage the other day and had it at a friend's home. I played for about two hours with their 10 old twins. It is still a great game. I remember playing for hours with my family and always having a good time. I can't wait until my nephews are old enough to play. I am sure my brother and I will still be as competitive as always.

We're playing it tonight. We had it growing up (I'm 40 now) and we're home visiting Mom. I remembered it, and went up in the attic to retrieve it. It was full of dust, but I washed it and made two new cardboard shields. We went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought ping-pong balls for it. My 7-yr old and I are having a ball with it now. I remembered how much practice I got with my brothers, and am killing my husband with my aces. I'm going to take it back home for our family vacation this summer. It will be a huge hit with all the nieces and nephews. Ours is in perfect condition, surprisingly. I was enjoying it so much (it's such an awesome design) that I came to see what I could learn online about it.

Glad to know there are other Paddle Pool fans!

Our family had Paddle Pool in the 70's. My 16th birthday party was a smash hit with paddle pool being the main event. We had 70 some kids in the house playing cards, twister, rock-em sock-em robots and paddle pool. Eventually, when the crowd dwindled, paddle pool was the main event. We wore out the little clips that held on the paddles, so my parents got rid of it when they moved away.

I contacted Hasbro and asked them if they would consider making it again, and they said they had no plans of it. I, however, think that if enough people request it, they may think twice about it.

While I attended law school ('72-76) a group of us would play paddle pool for hours on end. In those days, we all smoked pot, which adds a whole new dimension to an already fabulous experience. When we finally quit playing for one session, we would turn to cribbage or dominos. We graduated, had successful careers and raised families. I really would like to go back in time and spend a week in that lifestyle again, but only if there were the same bunch of guys and the same accoutraments.

I never saw this game until I met my wifes family. This game rules. Only one of the paddles still has the original plastic retainers. The rest are held on with twisties. I think there is only one original scoring peg left also, we use toothpicks for the rest.

Started playing this game with my in-laws when we were first married about 30 years ago. Our adult children remind us how we would keep them awake with our noise after putting them to bed. Now, another generation later, my kids are getting ready to keep their kids awake as the paddle action continues. The competition for which family will inherit our game has already started - - - so they better start producing the game again - - - or should I see if I can get $100 for it from one of my kids??? :-)

Always loved this game. In my 40's now, it's one of the only games I'd still like to get again for my kids. Saw it on Ebay over the past year, and people (probably some of you) were bidding over $100 on it! I think we need to start writing emails to Milton Bradley letting them know about the demand for this vintage game.

I don't exactly recall when we got Paddle Pool, but I remember a specific time with it! It was the summer of 1977. My grandfather was not doing well -- he moved in with us, reluctantly. He wanted to die where he'd lived with my grandmother. He had rarely smiled in the four two years since her death. I drug out the Paddle Pool and I'd set it on the coffee table in front of my grandfather's chair. He would get so tickled playing that he'd almost lose his breath. Playing Paddle Pool with him is one of the very last things I did with him. He died on the first day of my senior year -- in August 1977! I will never forget his laughter while playing Paddle Pool!!

One of my favorite games. Beats Playstation hands down... I vaguely remember the ad for it featured some football players playing it in a darkened locker room.

Lost the original ball and used ping pong ball after that. They were a bit heavier and if you were serving and flipped it just right you could make the oppenent paddle bend back and the ball go in. Or, fake and am high and hit the other person in the head! Sadly the holders eventually broke and the covers for when only playing two wore out. Was a great game.

Paddle Pool is THE best game ever! My family spent countless hours shrieking, wooohoooing, and laughing as we played. My mental video memories of family times with my cousins Megan and Todd have us hunched and alert around the Paddle Pool game. We're all grown up now (late 30's and into 40's) but played again this Christmas. It's as much fun now as it was 25 and 30 years ago and I'm eagerly looking forward to at least another 30 years playing with them!

Paddle Pool was a huge present under the tree in the 1970's. I was so intrigued, that I opened it up before Christmas and wrapped it back up. It was a great game! My fondest Christmas memories are that Christmas day playing it with all my aunts and uncles and cousins.

Very addicting game. I have a large family and the skill levels reached unbelievable heights(those who played and didn't play were amazed). Actually, no one can argue that this game is a great eye/hand game as well as just a good sensory game (sound, sight, and touch). We have two. We built our own new "goal ramps" with thin lamenated paper board.
