Spudsie was the greatest! For a little diabetic boy in the early '70's who didn't have a lot of energy- it was the perfect toy! Oh, the games one could invent with that cool guy! What I treasure most about him was his "not-so kid friendly" design! We were not a lawsuit happy bunch. The risk of an overzealous kid passing it like a football rather than gently handing it off added to the thrill!

I didn't have one but I remember it being around our house. My sister, 7 yrs. older than me, got hit in the mouth with it by my brother and STILL has the broken front tooth to show for it! I've got to tell her about this website...it's awesome!

I have very fond memories of passing this potato around our family room and shrieking when the timer went ding! It was one of the few games I could get my siblings to play with me (I was the youngest). I spent months tring to find one for my own young family. Finally bought one this week off an auction site. It arrived in good shape, but the timer goes by pretty fast, even on '5'. Can anyone tell me how fast it is supposed to time out? Posting is fine. Thanks!

We loved playing with Spudsie! He was very heavy and could be dangerious when hit in the head or face. I also always got my finger pinched when I wound his timer.

We had one of these when we were little. It was so cool. I am so glad I found this website and can see all these old toys I used to love!

Spudsie: I remember mine from years gone by. I don't recall how old I was when I'd gotten mine, but he was one of my favorite toys. He still is: When I learned about eBay, I began my search to become reunited with my old pals. Thus far, I have found Spudsie (with his box), Larry the Talking Lion, and for my brother, I have found his hero: Nerf-Man!

At first we thought it was a Mr. Potato Head. Then I went on the internet. Apparently it is a "Hot Potato". Cool.

My whole family used to sit in the living room and pass this thing around till it DINGed. Even my grandmother and grandfather would play. We had great fun with it.
Does anyone know where I can get one? There's none on Ebay right now.

I still have my Spudsie , and he still works. I have taken him with me on every move i have made, from Iowa to California, to Missouri , to Nevada, back to Iowa, and now to Montana. Its about the only toy i still posess from my childhood.

I remember this was a birthday party favorite, along with musical chairs when I was 5 - 6 years old. One of those elimination games. We would pass Spudsie around and say "hot potato! Watch out!"
